About SEBC

The Social Entrepreneurship Business Competition (SEBC) has been launched in order to encourage entrepreneurs to think creatively about (for profit) business solutions to social problems. SEBC invites teams of motivated students to submit their business ideas or plans on innovative social enterprise.

Two categories:Undergraduates and Graduates.

The winners from both categories will be eligible for a reward and/or the chance to meet with ventures capitalists to realize their ideas. The goal of the SEBC is to enhance students’ understanding of the Social Entrepreneurship as well as develop business skills necessary to create Social Purpose Business Models.

Entry Requirements

  • Business plans should include specific a business model and strategy and mea surable objectives to solve one of the social problems outlined;
  • The plans should be implementable in mainland China;
  • Teams should have a passion to establish their own business to solve social or environmental problems;
  • The plans should allow for dynamic integration with Internet technology.

Participants Categories

  • Undergraduate category: current undergraduate students.
  • Graduate category:current Masters, Doctoral, MBA or EMBA students.

The Participants of the SEBC

  • Teams consisting of students (majority must be college students or above) must have an External Business Advisor (alumni, professors, mentors etc).
  • Teams should submit the basic information at http://gongyi.qq.com/sebc, and then submit concept papers according to instruction.
  • Teams must follow the rules and regulations of the competition.

Who are the Judges

The distinguished panel of judges consists of individuals from industry, academia, consulting, NGOs and social entrepreneurs.

Award

First Prize: RMB30,000, one team for each Undergraduate and Graduate categories.
Second Prize: RMB20,000, one team for each Undergraduate and Graduate categories.
Third Prize: RMB10,000, one team for each Undergraduate and Graduate categories.

Value-added Award

  • 4 Days Social Entrepreneurship Training: All members of the team entering Round 2 will be invited to attend the 4 days training program at CEIBS, both Shanghai and Beijing campuses;
  • Consulting Service: All the prize winners will be eligible for social entrepreneur consulting service from InnoCSR, after the final round and before incubation;
  • First prize winners will take participate in Echoing Green scholarship selection, starting from semifinal;
  • Venture Capital: All teams entering Final Round will have the chance to meet with venture capitalists;
  • Certification: Prize winners will win a certification of merit honored by the SEBC committee consisting of InnoCSR, Tencent Foundation and CEIBS;
  • Internship: Qualified candidates will have chance to obtain an intern position at selected sponsor companies.
